How to Transition Your Wardrobe From Summer to Fall
We’re approaching autumn, but the dog days of summer aren’t over yet! It’s too warm to bundle up in your cozy fall sweater dresses, but if you’re anything like us, you just can’t wait. It may not be sweater weather, but you can still add a hint of autumn to your wardrobe. We’re sharing four tips for styling transition outfits. You’ll fall in love with these cute outfits from our online boutique!
Tip #1: Layer Your Summer Minis
The weeks in between summer and fall are characterized by unpredictable weather. Layering is an easy way to take your cutest summer dresses into fall. A denim jacket or cardigan is an ideal layering piece because you can take it off if it gets too warm!
Our Brenda Tie Back Mini Dress is one of the sweetest summer mini dresses our boutique has to offer. This adorable floral mini is too cute to put away come September! To make this mini feel like fall, try layering the Dina Distressed Denim Jacket. This faded blue jacket has a cropped fit with frayed hems. Feminine and trendy, our denim jacket is a year-round staple. Complete the look with a pair of booties. The Finley Heeled Boots scream fall! Nice and neutral, our heeled boots truly elevate the ensemble. Combine the best of both seasons with this laid-back look!
Tip #2: Incorporate Fall Colors
A simple way to switch up your summer wardrobe is to incorporate more fall colors. Think cozy shades of brown and jewel tones!
Our Priscilla Sleeveless Shawl is a boutique best-seller year after year, and it’s easy to see why it’s a good transition piece. This felted sleeveless shawl comes in a range of shades, but we think light brown is the best transitional color. Cozy camel is a classic autumn shade. The sleeveless silhouette makes this shawl appropriate for a range of temperatures.
In the crisp fall months, you can wear the shawl with a turtleneck. However, wearing it with a tank is an obvious choice for September weather! The Lauren V-Neck Tank Top is a sleeveless knit tank that acts as a blank canvas for all of your favorite sweaters and jackets. Lastly, a pair of blue jeans–like our Larissa Super Skinny Jeans–complete the look. You won’t be-leaf how much you love this almost-autumn outfit!
Tip #3: Jumpsuits All Day
Here at Morning Lavender, we can’t resist a good jumpsuit! They offer more coverage than a mini dress or romper while still being breezy and lightweight. Jumpsuits are one of the best ways to embrace the changing seasons!
Our Gillian Tie Shoulder Jumpsuit comes in a hunter green floral and has charming tie shoulders. A smocked bodice contrasts the flowy, wide leg pants. In the fall, you might wear this jumpsuit with a cute cardigan; while you’re waiting for the leaves to change, the tie shoulders will keep you cool. Add some light jewelry–the Edie Wire Earrings are eye-catching but simple. Finally, grab the Lia Slouchy Tote. We like that this purse is both practical and pretty. You’re dressed for the sweetest September of your life!
Tip #4: Add a Felt Hat
What’s more autumnal than a quintessential felt hat? The great thing about this tip is how easy it is–all you need is your favorite outfit and a hat! A felt hat can make any outfit feel like pumpkin spice and everything nice.
Made from a cream wool blend, the Elliot Wide Brim Hat is accented by a light brown band. We matched the hat to our Madeline Puff Sleeve Blouse for a clean, simple vibe. Puff sleeves and ruffle trim make this crop top super flirty and feminine. Lastly, slip on the Tawny Slim Straight Jeans. These light blue jeans feature distressed details and have a comfy, relaxed fit. Hat + crop top + jeans = the perfect transition outfit!
