Mix and Match: The Matching Set Trend

Matching sets are having a big moment, but this trend is actually pretty classic! Although silhouettes have changed, matching sets come back decade after decade and embody the spirit of each era. From pantsuits to sweatsuits, matching sets can be dressy, professional, casual, or comfy! We love that pieces in a set can be worn together for a polished look, or used as separates to create other outfits. Today, we’ll be styling our favorite matching set (Edith Cropped Turtleneck and Edith Knit Midi Skirt) and showing a few different ways to wear the pieces. Keep reading to see the outfits we created!

The Matching Set

Before we mix and match this set, let’s look at how to wear both pieces together! Our matching knit set features the Edith Cropped Turtleneck and the Edith Knit Midi Skirt. Both pieces come in a rich, camel brown color. These knit pieces are ribbed and figure flattering. They’re made from a stretchy knit material that creates a personalized fit.

Our Edith Cropped Turtleneck has a boxy silhouette and long puff sleeves. Bodycon skirts are so chic, and the Edith Knit Midi Skirt is no exception. Matching sets always seem polished and put together despite being so simple!

We styled this gorgeous caramel knit set with our Erin Vegan Leather Tote Bag. Our oversized black purse actually comes with a small crossbody inside, so pick whichever one will fit all of your essentials. The black purse breaks up our monochromatic matching set.  We’re head over heels in love with this neutral outfit! 

Edith Cropped Turtleneck + Satin Midi Skirt

Next, we paired the Edith Cropped Turtleneck with a satin midi skirt. Our matching set includes a knit midi skirt, so we decided to experiment with different materials and textures while keeping the original silhouette. We also decided to style the turtleneck with another neutral color. 

The Judith Satin Midi Skirt comes in a silky cream shade. Satin is so glamorous and has an old Hollywood feel to it. Our midi skirt is slim fitting, which provides contrast with the boxy Edith Cropped Turtleneck.

We accessorized this ensemble with the Eleanor Dainty Crystal Ring. Our delicate gold ring has colorful crystal accents that glimmer under the light. You’ll look so beautiful wearing this outfit to a dinner party or date! 

Edith Knit Midi Skirt + Cowl Neck Bodysuit

Next, let’s style the Edith Knit Midi Skirt! For this outfit, we chose light colored pieces to keep the Edith Knit Midi Skirt in the spotlight. We matched this midi with the Naya Cowl Neck Bodysuit. Our silky bodysuit comes in a light beige color and has adjustable straps. 

This bodysuit is less bulky than the Edith Cropped Turtleneck, so it creates a different silhouette. Once again, we love mixing different textures, and satin looks stunning against the ribbed knit skirt. 

We finished off the outfit with the Aidan Puff Sleeve Cardigan. Our long cardigan sweater has trendy puff sleeves and an open, draped style. Plus, it has patch pockets to keep your hands warm. You’ll be the epitome of sophistication in this look! 

Edith Cropped Turtleneck + Wide Leg Trousers

Break this set up to create workwear that’s pretty and professional! Although our midi skirt may be too form fitting for some dress codes, the Edith Cropped Turtleneck has a boxy fit. Simply offset the cropped style with some high waisted pants for a cute look that’ll take you from work to happy hour. 

The Kinley Wide Leg Trousers are pleated and high waisted, creating a vintage vibe. Although they’re office appropriate, they’re anything but stiff or frumpy! These classic black slacks have a comfy, relaxed fit and elastic waist.

We topped off the ensemble with our Wendy Leopard Headband. This little headband combines the colors from the turtleneck and trousers; it really ties the whole look together. Put on this outfit and you’ll be prepared for whatever the workday has in store!

Edith Knit Midi Skirt + Dolman Sleeve Sweater

Swap out the sweater top for a black dolman! Our Edith Knit Midi Skirt is made from a stretchy ribbed knit material that’s almost like a sweater. As a result, it looks fantastic when paired with other sweaters. For this look, we chose a sweater that’s a totally different style and color than the Edith Cropped Turtleneck. 

Our Justine Dolman Sleeve Knit Sweater is a full length black sweater with dolman sleeves. Wear it off the shoulder for a flirty feel. This black sweater top is so slimming and has a similar fit to the Edith Knit Midi Skirt–no wonder they look so good together!

We chose to accentuate the surplice neckline with our Sheila Dainty Pearl Layered Necklace. Our delicate necklace has two gold chains, one of which features a pearl. This look combines comfort and glamor for an outfit that’ll earn you compliments wherever you go!
